This is a drawing that I did for the July ’08 Drawing Jam at the Drawing Board. The model is Miss. Mosh from Deviantart.
You can see the original photo at the July 08′ Jam at the DrawingBoard or the deviantart page.
I wanted the drawing to look sort of like a fashion Illustration. I colored her dress using Faber Castell Pitt brush pen in red and embellished it with gold flowers and white highlights to give the dress some color. I purposely did not color in her skin and hair because I thought it would be too much. I then used Prismacolor colored pencil for the background. After finishing the drawing I realized I wrote the date wrong, haha it should say ‘July’ oh well… lol.
Please check out her deviantart page there are alot of great photos! I’m hoping they’ll do another Drawing Jam soon ‘cuz I had alot of fun with this one.

Look at what I found…
I was going through my boxes the other day and I happened to find an old sketchbook of mine that I barely used. I flipped through the pages and found this.
Pencil, 22.9 x 30.5cm multi-purpose Manila Paper
I can’t believe I totally forgot I drew this! I must have drawn this around the summer of 2006. The model is from one of the Glamour magazine pages. I don’t know why but I always practice with the photos from the Glamour magazines. haha. I also found this on another sketchbook.
Ink, Self-portrait 11″ x 14″
A self-portrait of me. haha! I must’ve done this really quick ’cause I wasn’t too concern on how my hands were drawn. haha. I think I did this some time in 2005 when I was living in Goosebay. It so fun to look back at old drawings especially the ones you forgot you did. haha.
At the moment, I’m working on a drawing using Copic Markers and Prismacolor Pencils. It’s going pretty well, I’m 80% done. I’ll try and get the 20% done some time today. haha. I’ll post it tomorrow if I’m done by then. =)
As I mentioned on my last post, I’ll be going on vacation real soon. We’ll be leaving Rankin on March 10th and won’t be back till April 11th. We are heading off to Calgary and we’ll be staying at our house in Chestermere which is just a town away. I’ve never seen the house since we purchased it last year, I’ve seen pictures, but never been inside. My brother has been living there since he moved back in July. So I’m pretty excited to see the house for the first time and get to see my brother too. haha. It’s funny we always go to Calgary for vacation, never Hawaii, New York, or Paris. haha Oh well. I can’t wait.
Fashion Drawing, Pencil.
Wow, I haven’t posted anything on here for a long time! I’ve been really busy at work, especially now with the Christmas season. I was also sick last week, I had a bad case of the stomach flu and had constant fever and a strep throat. No fun… I’m going back to work tomorrow. *sigh. Christmas is in four days! Then it’s my birthday! =)
I’m trying to get some new artwork going before the New Years. I bought a lot of art materials on Ebay last month (maybe a little too much I should say, but they’re a Christmas/Birthday present for myself… hehe.) and I’m anxious on getting to use them. hehe.
Close-up of the drawing.
I attached a drawing I did for practice earlier this year. I got the model off from a Glamour magazine fashion page. Her eyes are done by continuous shading and I did a lot of incomplete lines on her face too which is always fun to do when you are doing a fashion drawing. I’ll be putting up more recent work in a couple of days, so stay tuned for that!
I love the holidays only because it means I actually get some time off work. haha. No turkey this year though, I’m just going to relax and do some drawings at home.
I’ve been working on a painting for the past couple of days. It’s been so long since I’ve held a paint brush. I can’t even remember how to mix colors! But the painting is turning out really well. I might post it in a couple of days when I’m done. I’m just super glad my paints haven’t dried out after so many years!
Here’s a lil update… well kind of, I drew this less than a month ago for fun. I got the model off from one of the Glamour magazine pages. haha. I thought it would be neat to draw. I actually didn’t want to color in her hair and lips in the beginning, but I guess I got a little carried away. =) Sorry about the quality of the picture, I no longer have my scanner, so now I have to resort to using my camera instead for taking images of my artwork.
This would be my first post here in my new blog. I am very excited to get this blog up and running (finally!). I’ve been putting it off for about three weeks now because I had no clue what to write. But I decided today to get something up, at least.
I plan to use this blog to showcase some of my artwork and maybe improve my writing skills too?
The drawing on the left was a charcoal drawing assignment I did for Fashion Illustration class that I took last year. We were learning about the importance of the “line” and how a simplicity of a line can take a drawing to another level.
It was bit difficult for me at first to draw with simplicity because I’m the type of artist that loves to draw with alot of detail. But after a while, drawing with less and lesser detail for the next 4 months that I was taking the course, it had grown to me, that now drawing has become alot easier.
To me, fashion drawing is alot of fun. You can get so creative and playful with it, that even how simple the drawing looks, it still has this expressive quality to it.
I hope you and your loved ones have a great christmas holiday and many blessings to come.
